Milky Way rises over Weisshorn
From CHF 80.00
The Milky Way rises on the Weisshorn (4’506 m), in the Swiss Alps. The peak on the right is “Les Diablons” (3’609 m), which appears taller due to the perpective.
Above those two mountains stands the Pipe Nebula, a cloud of interstellar dust obscuring the light coming from distant stars. On its left, we can see the Lagoon nebula, M8, and the Trifid nebula, M20. Their typical red color comes from ionized hydrogen emitting light. The blue tint of the Trifid nebula comes from the reflection of the light of nearby stars on interstellar dust.
